Flood too much for Splash

Splash, which recently reopened after a burst water pipe caused major interior damage several months ago, has had enough with the water theme and is changing its name to Bliss.

The Boston Licensing Board decides tomorrow whether to allow the name change for the Kneeland Street club. Nobody spoke in opposition at a hearing this morning.

Splash's attorney, William Ferullo, told the board this morningthat no major changes were made or planned, except for new furniture and paint required as part of the recovery from the flood.

reign in this nonsense and acknowledge the Licensing Board for what it truly is, a largely needless bureauracy that is fast spinning out of control.

Unless people somehow believe that wasting taxpayer's money and people's time on a public hearing to allow a business to change their name is an efficent and necessary use of resorces.

And, if this is an example of transparency in government, then perhaps we need to rethink the whole concept of transparency.

I don't know what's worse... that new name or the use of the Anastasia font. But I can see where they may have gotten their inspiration from... there's nothing more blissful than spending a night on a roofdeck that overlooks gorgeous I93.
