Shot at Peter's Hill in the Arboretum, right? One of my favorite Rozzie lookouts. There's another great perch on Beech Street at the Phineas Bates elementary school.
Peters Hill probably would've been better (or even Nick's on Washington Street), because coming down Washington from the parkway yesterday, there was this really cool effect: the Back Bay was all hazy, but the buildings in JP were all really, really bright. At the Bates, you get the Back Bay, and a couple of blocks of houses right behind the school, but none of JP, really.

How does the Bates School compare...
... with the high point along Metropolitan Avenue (our standard spot for fireworks watching and spying on downtown Boston)?
Never watched the fireworks from Met.
Not bad from the school parking lot, and there's usually somebody there with their car doors open to crank up the simulcast.
