"Not Checked"
Very useful information.
If you don't like it
Feel free to check some paths yourself and send in a report. The paths don't magically report their conditions on their own.
Naaaaaa
I'll take the train, sip my coffee and read the paper. Thank you very much!
To Plow or Not To Plow?
The years just after the Minuteman Path opened had very hard winters (thanks, Pinitubo!). During those winters, the path was not plowed. On several occasions, my husband used cross-country skis to get to work near Alewife, and I used them to get to Alewife to get to my job at MGH. We weren't the only ones who did this - people were carrying skis in the train station. It was actually a lot of fun.
When the hard winters subsided, the path became a nasty mess that wasn't ski-able when it snowed, and various towns along the route started plowing it so that it would be more useful for transportation during much of the winter.
Interesting now that non-motorized travel is getting to the point where it matters in many places.
Crossing Lake Street on X-country skis sounds difficult
Did you shuffle across or just take them off?
Removed the skis
I also had to do it at Mill St. and at the Arlington Center Crossing.
