Transit Police report arresting a man from a Pittsburgh suburb at the Sullivan Square Orange Line stop last night before he could get the tar beaten out of him strangle a local following the end of the Penguins' O-4 series.

According to police, officers arrived at a disturbance around 11:30 p.m. at the station to find Ryan Baessler, 29, of Carnegie, PA, with his hands around another man's throat and screaming insults at him:

Officers intervened and separated Baessler from the victim. However Baessler became belligerent and combative with the officers and attempted to spit and kick at them. Fortunately officers avoided Baessler's assaultive actions and were able to place him into custody.

Police gave Baessler a tour of the parts of Boston tourists usually don't see in a cruiser; he was booked at Transit Police HQ on a charge of disturbing the peace. Police say for some reason his alleged victim chose not to stick around to talk to police.

Innocent, etc.

During the first 2 rounds of the playoffs, that guy would have strangled 4.27 people to death per game. Here in Boston,we held him to zero strangulation deaths. That's defense.

And something tells me the victim got away with no call on whatever penalty he committed.

Sports fans are such a menace - I have some ideas.

Let's require them to pay for their fair share of police and EMS via a tax, and carry insurance, and get a license after they prove they know what behavior is/isn't illegal.

And what's with dressing up in those stupid colorful shirts? You're not Wayne Gretzky, you know.
