Sanchez injured... Hilarious if Tebow ended up back with the Jets.

He's gotten by on his athleticism: He can make plays when the play breaks down. What he can't do is execute the play.

(Jesus is his co-pilot.)

Like the Christian TV network founded by Pat Robinson, Praise The Lord! (raise hands)

Seems like a decent guy, but what turns me off is the Christian-football connection that exists outside the northeast. Football is its own religion in many parts of the US, with almost no separation of church and sports.

I think it's a prosperity gospel thing.

I went to grad school at the University of Georgia and I LOVE me some college football, especially my Dawgs, and I agree with your post completely.

God, football, and family is what's important down there. IN THAT ORDER.

Going to a game like the one last night with 100,000 of your closest friends who know their team is so blessed that the Lord and ESPN made it the prime time game of the week is a powerful thing. It's mesmerizing, there is an amazing sense of "us" and it's intoxicating. If it were under a tent, it would be a revival.

Last night - 20 years and 1000 miles away - I was completely drawn in by the game. I was at a friend's house with Jack and Coke (the preferred drink of the SEC) standing on my feet cheering my team on and ultimately, dragging my sad pom pom off to bed.

I do feel bad that a person who was a great college QB couldn't translate that into success in the NFL. I feel bad for him because it sucks to be cut from anything but he's sitting somewhere realizing that at 26, his career is over.

Now let the bidding wars begin. Rumor has it that every sports network wants to hire him as a commentator (ESPN apparently wants him as a college football commentator so bad it hurts).

He can make plenty of money if he wants on the christo-fascist lecture circuit. Think Kirk Cameron.

did he do or say something to you personally? He legitimately doesn't seem like a bad/evil guy to me.

and that's the word out of the locker room at The Razor. There's a cultural difference between the north and the south about how much of one's religious beliefs are put on public display. Maybe that and the connection between some evangelicals and homophobia is at the root of the bash.
