Whenever I passed the piano in the Chinatown section of the Greenway, there were always people playing it, sometimes young kids banging away and looking ecstatically happy, sometimes skilled musicians. This piano project is the best kind of public art.

I noticed the same thing in the Back Bay the other week. A bunch of people were gathered around the one by the BAC singing along together while a friend played. It was like someone transplanted a scene from a British Pub circa 1925 into the streets of the city. And some really amazing players have been seen at the pianos around town. I hope they can put in some semi-permanent versions around the city as the tour of the street piano's are off to another city somewhere.

There was one for most of the summer by the Brewer Fountain/Clover food truck off Tremont.
