Police say driver awakens from his slumber - in the high-speed lane of 93 north

State Police report that when a trooper rolled up to a car stopped in the high-speed lane near exit 13 around 4:50 this morning, he found an apparently unconscious man behind the wheel. Who then woke up and took off:

[Eric] FUNES refused to stop and led Trooper [James] DeAngelis on a low speed pursuit down the highway. Additional troopers responded to assist Trooper DeAngelis. In the area of Exit 15, toopers deployed a tire deflation device. FUNES’ vehicle traveled over the tire deflation device and as a result FUNES’ vehicle sustained three flat tires and stopped shortly thereafter in the left lane prior to the Tip O’Neil Tunnel. The entire pursuit lasted for approximately three miles.
