Thank you for posting Adam.
The Norfolk County District Attorney will also be speaking about the case at the vigil,
Also, the head of the Animal Rescue League is scheduled to speak. You may have seen her on HLN earlier this evening speaking with Jane Velez Mitchell. Plus there will be many many animal lovers, and a multitude of dogs.

Is this is a joke? A vigil for an animal? Pathetic.
Couple months away from April Fools.

No, it's not a fucking joke. This is a vigil for everyone that lost a pet under suspicious circumstances. Most lost dogs usually just starve. This dog was racked, stabbed, burned and starved. Pulp fiction shit. Ya, it gets me mildly annoyed. I, like everyone else, wants this asshole caught.

What a horrid, unfeeling "person" and I use that term loosely, you are,to say such a thing.Do you think this kind of abuse is acceptable????

Yes, a vigil. And yes, for an animal.

A very violent person committed this crime. No animal, no person is safe with this person running loose. Not even yourself.
If this torture is what they would inflict on an innocent animal, I doubt they would treat you much better.

The Norfolk County district attorney seems to think this is important enough.
My reason for going is to show support for his work on the case. It's also to show Craigslist and the cell phone companies that people take this case seriously and expect their cooperation. And lastly I will be there to pay respect to an puppy that endured unspeakable horror.

Unfortunately, no, it's not a joke. Something like that needs to be brought out into the open; next time it could be YOUR child that is abducted and disappears. As the DA points out everyone needs to pay attention now, there's someone truly evil out there that needs to be caught. Puppy Doe stands for all of them and as a warning for others that may yet be saved, canine, feline or human, doesn't matter.

You're the joke Mr. I can't believe you actually said what you did, obviously you do not know the facts. Pretty IGNORANT!!

the facebook page has become increasingly angry and the anger is feeding on itself. I love animals and I cried and cried when I read about Puppy Doe but I'm not sure I want to be part of a vigil with so many people full of rage who seem to be out for blood. I would like to see more love and kindness on the page.

There's too much rage at Craigslist and posts that say things like "we will find you" to the people who did this to Puppy Doe for me to feel comfortable.

Nancy,
understand your feelings. The organizers are 4 local woman. I don't think they realized how big this would become. The city of Quincy has asked them to change the location twice, due to crowd control concerns.

The organizers have been vocal that they want a peaceful vigil. They don't want signs with foul language, and they don't want people with misbehaving dogs. At one point they were even asking people to leave their dogs at home! Quite a bold request to send to animal lovers!

Hope you can reconsider, but if you don't, maybe you would consider other ways to help the effort?

I lit a candle here in VT - how did it go?

It was very peaceful. I'd say the crowd was about 800 people.
I was late, had softball games this afternoon.
Missed the district attorney, really would have liked to hear his speak about the investigation.
There was a candle lighting, a moment of silence, a poem and one singer.

The "animal rights crazies" were few. It was people from the neighborhood, families, couples, singles. A lot of pet owners with their dogs, especially pit bull owners. I imagine this incident really hit home for them.

It looked very peaceful and calm. And sad. So sad.

From what I saw on the news, it sounds like the DA might have some good leads.

I don't want to cry again but who the hell would stab a dog in the eye? I can't even imagine the pain that would cause. And yet, when she got to the ARL, she was affectionate and loving.
