Ed Grzyb captured the International Space Station zooming over the Cummins Highway area (that's Sacred Heart Church on the left) around 9:51 p.m.

Great photo. I guess I'm not the only one who subscribes to Spot The Station: http://spotthestation.nasa.gov/

Just got my alert for tonight:

Time: Tue Aug 06 9:03 PM, Visible: 6 min, Max Height: 83 degrees, Appears: SW, Disappears: ENE

This one looks like it will be almost directly overhead.

Tried myself. Not too bad. Any longer exposure and the general sodium vapor city lights started blowing out the sky...

Excellent capture and especially nicely framed by the church spire and pointy rooftop!

Heavens Above helps track far more than just the ISS, but here's our local ISS pass information page:

http://www.heavens-above.com/PassSummary.aspx?sati...

You want to look for anything that approaches around -2 in Brightness (lower is brighter). Then you want to check to see how high in the sky it will rise (Highest point Altitude maxes at 90 degrees) and how long it will be visible (End time minus start time). If you click on a pass, you should be able to get a sky map to help figure out where to look.

If it doesn't get above about 30 degrees and you are trying to see it in the city, you probably won't. Same with the brightness. We have a lot of light pollution being in a city. You will need a very strong magnitude, like -2 to -3.
