State Police give Peter Pan the hook

A man who called himself Peter Pan tried getting away with another man's boat in the Charles River over the weekend, only to find himself under arrest, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Around 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, the owner of a 28-foot boat watched as somebody boarded his craft at Poor Man's Landing just north of the Longfellow, start her up and make for open waters or, at least, the inner harbor.

The crack state troopers of the Marine Section quickly moved to intercept and board the vessel, the DA's office reports:

The troopers asked who the owner of the boat was.

"I am," he allegedly stated.

When asked his name, he allegedly replied, "Peter." When asked his last name, he allegedly replied, "Pan."

It turns out the reason he didn't fly away was because he was not, in fact, the leader of the Lost Boys, but rather an allegedly more common yegg named Derek Ramsay, 26, of Topsham, ME. Also, he was not wearing green tights.

Ramsay was charged with larceny over $250, breaking and entering into a boat, using a boat without authority, and furnishing a false name. Boston Municipal Court Judge Debra Shopteese set bail at $2,000 and revoked his open bail on unrelated larceny charges.

Innocent, etc.

He should have told the cops his name was "Fung Wah".

Because they'd have known he was lying as soon as the boat failed to burst into flames about halfway through the voyage.
