There is a Lowell train sitting on the tracks just past North Station, dead, filled with people who don't want to be there

Emmie reports from the 4:40 p.m. train to Lowell, which confidently rolled out of North Station, then promptly suffered a fatal heart attack some sort of problem and now the brakes won't release.

UPDATE, 5:36: Emmie reports the T has offloaded passengers to the 5:10 train, which, obviously, is a bit late.

Leak in the air line

The air in the line is not pressurized to apply the brakes, it's applied to release them. Obviously could be any number of other things - but most likely suspect is a loss of air pressure in the brake line.

New choo choos soon

Draft amendment 4 to the 2013 Boston MPO TIP (Trans. Improvement Proj.) sheets now has $53M budgeted for new locomotives. We can hope they take less time to build than replacement rail cars from Korea.

They're already being

They're already being assembled. We were supposed to receive our first locomotives this month, but that's been pushed off several times already. Fall 2013, now, I think?
