Given the amount of money raised, I think none of us should be surprised that some would seek to steal from it. The fact that arrests have occurred would show that some kind of investigating is going on.
I was wondering about the woman who managed to actually receive over $400,000. If it wasn't for a suspicious contractor that she had hired, she may've got away with it. I wonder if there are more cases like that. I hope not.

It really is a sad state we live in when people try to milk a fund meant for victims. Its sad because people don't care and only care about how much money they can milk for themselves

Very sad...

...the vast majority of society is:

HELP HELP HELP EACH OTHER AND GIVE GENEROUSLY WHEN WE SEE PEOPLE IN NEED OR DISTRESS.

I think the actions of three pathetic criminals cannot overshadow the tens (hundreds?) of thousands of people who gave to help strangers they never met, without any thought of benefit to themselves.

not is now like

Broadcasting device in every pocket sort of allows you to see undercurrents that were simply invisible before. People and culture are not much different, our perspective has just changed due to technology.

And were seeing both the better and worse aspects.
