Thug on trial, day 2

The Ahab of the Bulger saga, the state-police colonel blocked by the FBI for 15 years in his attempt to get Bulger, testified yesterday. The defense got him to admit some of his cooperating witnesses were themselves bad people. The prosecution showed enough weapons to arm a small country.

Today's bookie day at the Moakley Courthouse.

Howie predicts Whitey won't testify.

Something I don't understand and no reports explain: All those weapons, and none had Bulger's prints on them. So why doesn't the defense object to having them all there in front of the jury?

The weapons were found in a hide in his home. That's enough to establish that they were in his possession. Lack of prints is not determinative, since people don't always leave prints when they touch things, and even if they do, prints are very fragile and can be smudged or effectively wiped off.

All the article says is "hiding places connected to James "Whitey" Bulger". But yours would certainly be a logical answer to my question.
