Turlach MacDonagh went to the MIT Flea today and spotted these stripped brass horns.

Saxophone is a woodwind, not a brass horn.

They were invented as a hybrid. They are brass horns with the mouthpiece and keying of a woodwind. So, seeing as these are stripped down, they are actually brass horns if you wanted to get technical, since all you have here is a brass horn body with holes in it (a saxophone has keys, mouthpiece, etc.).
