City officials agree: Charlestown cider house rules

The Boston Licensing Board decides tomorrow whether to let the city's first cider house offer samples during the tours it wants to offer.

The mayor's office, the BRA and several city councilors gave strong support to Downeast Cider House's request for a "farmer wine pouring" permit at a hearing today.

Downeast began making locally sourced cider at 200 Terminal St. about a year ago.

Salvatore DiStefano of the BRA's Back Streets program, praised Downeast for investiging $500,000 in the property and hiring local workers.
