Convicted child rapist charged with raping woman in Arlington

Billingslea

WBZ reports Arlington Police arrested a Boston man last night after officers spotted him running out of the house of a woman who had just been beaten and raped there.

Essie Billingslea, 45, was convicted of rape of a child with force in 1989 and indecent assault and battery on child under 14 and rape and abuse of child in 1995, according to the state Sexual Offender Registry Board.

I happened to drive past two police cars and an ambulance around 8:50 PM last night by where the relative of the accused lives, in a Housing Corporation of Arlington owned, affordable housing apartment. I googled the accused and he was denied by the SJC in 2005 to marry another sex offender at Bridgewater, partly because Billingslea said he wasn't gay, and didn't have a good reason for marrying another man. Some may have wished he asked for gender reassignment instead, which SJC would have granted.

Thanks for pointing that out, it's completely relevant to this story.

This location is two blocks from me. I'd rather all the projects and affordable housing spring up around your home than mine. People applying to move into these places are checked out, but that doesn't mean their friends and relatives who might visit or move in with them are so clean. If Arlington passes the CPA (Community Preservation Act), the community will instead degrade with yet more affordable housing projects, increasing property taxes making housing less affordable for taxpayers.

Well, don't let the door hit you on the way out. I'm sure the Town of Arlington will manage to struggle by in your absence somehow.

Maybe someone can set up a fund we can donate to? I bet there's some willingness to pay to see him go. In April, his own Precinct 7 sent him a pretty clear message of un-appreciation when they voted him out.

By the way, the relatives that the alleged rapist was visiting in low income housing are registered as Democrats, and in my precinct. What are the chances of that? They must have voted for other town meeting candidates. The other candidate who lost was the best one in Town Meeting at keeping town officials honest. They didn't want that either. Now Selectmen are trying to slide in their friend Jim Doherty into the tax assessors job so he only needs 5 years to collect a full pension (much like Selectmen Hurd tried to do and was defeated by voters). We'll see if the Open Meeting Law gets followed this time.

You would think these people would have you in mind when they decide to bring affordable housing to people.
