Family feud ends in shooting - during a funeral procession

WHDH reports that Benzino, a Boston-born rapper, was shot by his nephew as they traveled down Rte. 3 in Duxbury towards services in a Plymouth church for Benzino's mother:

Family says that there has been growing tension between the two for some time.

Benzino has also long feuded with Eminem, who, however, has confined his attacks to lyrics.

And for this they shut down a major highway all afternoon, cutting off the entire Cape? Curse this vile family.

It'll be a cold day in Hell before I call this guy Benzino; he'll always be Ray Dog to me.

As the cop's attorney referred to him.

And will put the loving nephew away for a long time.

You do realize that the family are the victims here, right?

...no. No, of course you don't.

Being a rap 'artist' seems to be one of the most dangerous professions in the commonwealth. They should be required to hold professional registration and liability insurance for the mayhem which seems to frequently follow their careers.

Never heard of this guy before. Given his apparently very modest critical acclaim, am I alone in wondering if this was a setup job to get his name in the press for a few days?

If he needed it. Oh yeah, he already did that, never mind.

Llama Composes New American National Anthem.

Neighborhood Association Of Back Bay Open To Change.

These are all headlines I'd expect to see before Rapper Shot In Duxbury.

This story is one of the funniest things I've heard in years.

Can I also add, Beacon Hill Civic Association in full support of Blue Line extension to Charles. Working with T to identify funding sources.

Positive Light:

Benzino is owner of "The Source" Hip Hop Magazine that started in Boston as a one page paper and grew to be one of the most successful music magazines of all time.

Negative Light:

Benzino is also responsible for the savage attack of Boston Celtic's own "Paul Pierce", where Pierce was stabbed 11 times in the neck and back in the Theater District.

Benzino was also notorious in the illegal streets of Boston during the mid 1980s-1990s. He was involved in murders, prostitution, narcotics and shootouts with police.

He grew tired of the police presence in Boston and moved to Miami. Looks like he came back too soon.

So I found a rick ross and drake song called "made men". It does not feature anyone other then those 2 (legitimate) rappers. Also found a cheesy video of the made men wanna be rapper in this story. I had a huntch they were no bodys and I think I'm correct. Prob the type who mix in real rappers like lil wayne into their songs but it's actually a current/already produced lil wayne song and they make it seem like they are rapping with him

Another article says he's worth 10mil, which is sad commentary on the tastes of the American public.

The Source magazine was a legit magazine of authority when first founded, although this character drove it into the ground he still probably made a few bucks off it.

He's a true thug that has parlayed that skill set into a living in the industry despite an ounce of lyrical talent.

Thanks for clarifying. 10 million is a good amount of net worth. Not sure how accurate people like his net worth reporting is but I assume he had at least a million in his saving acct.. I use to live near Atlanta and know a lot about rap artists but have never heard of this man until now. He seems like the rudest most prejudice person on earth

But don't take it as gospel, please. I was into rap back in the day and remember this fringe character but I'm no expert on him. Can't vouch for the 10mil # either but he's also on a reality show and lord knows those talentless hacks the Kardashians are making money off that. (Not that I consider making money in and of itself a sign of success, but many people do.)

I'd say he's as base an individual as you can get, short of a murderer or sex criminal.

10 mil?!? Then why was Benzino driving a Dodge and the nephew driving a Bentley?

Missed car payment on the Bentley is my guess.

reversed the drivers of the vehicles

The Dodge was his friend's rental car. Ray "Benzino" Scott was a passenger.

The Bentley was driven by the nephew Gai Scott. Looks like he owns his own business but there isn't a lot of information on it.

The Globe reports getting Benzino on the phone in his hospital room and he says he was trying to avoid the funeral but just happened to run into it on Rte. 3.

I've never heard of this Benzino character. If he's feuding with Eminem, does anyone other than him know it?
