As if dead trains weren't enough, Red Line service halted when punkling kicks out train window near Savin Hill

It was just another one of those evenings where trains became too weary to go any further, leading to the usual extended-version commutes on both the Red and Orange lines.

Then, around 6:30 p.m., an alleged mini punk of 14 or so kicked out a window on a Red Line train approaching Savin Hill station. The driver stopped the train, junior and several friends decided discretion was the better part of stupidity and escaped out the window, which led the T to stop service until police could arrive and make sure nobody was left on the tracks. Then service had to be held until the cops got off the tracks after determining the tykes were gone from the right of way.

Bonus: They didn't get all that far away from the tracks. T cops managed to catch up with a group of kids matching witness descriptions - one holding a skateboard. The alleged kicker wore a Yankees cap.

among a certain demographic. I'm not sure what the significance is other than maybe just an FU to the larger demographic that wouldn't be caught dead wearing one.

Gosh. Golley. Gee. Aren't they cute those little tykes. Unless of course they're following you out of the station after dark which is 4:30 in a few weeks or Unless they KICK OUT a window on the subway car you're in.
And the then little tykes just crawled out the window. Gosh. Golley. Gee. Aren't they cute those little tykes. They even have Yankees caps which mean they like baseball too. We're all one big family. Yea for us.

Maybe we can get a water torture chamber on a few of them so passengers can administer immediate justice?

You're thinking of waterboarding. He was thinking of Chinese water torture.

Chinese water torture is a process in which water is slowly dripped onto a person's forehead, allegedly driving the restrained victim insane.

So we're talking cultural sensitivities here. Waterboarding/ Watertorture. Tomato/tomato Potato/potato Let's call the whole thing off.

Thanks for jumping to unnecessary conclusions about a statement about an ethnic appellation without knowing the facts or the intent. Gina, were you a metro editor of the Globe at any point over the last 40 years? You seem to fit the bill.

Chinese water torture was designed to cause mental instability as a means to obtain submission or information from wanted parties. Water boarding causes immediate pain, shock and fear for one's life. Two types of torture, yes, but not potaytoh / potahto.

Why are we having this discuasion about vandaliam on the red line.

Because all blatantly obvious jokes are always racist and facilitate peer reviewed teachable moments in order to remove all sense of humour.

Because certain people equate "demeaning other people" with "funny", which it isn't.

There are other forms of humor. Here's a list: http://www.dailywritingtips.com/20-types-and-forms-of-humor/

making a wise crack about so-called Chinese water torture is not REMOTELY demeaning towards Chinese people. How do you come up with this shit?

These were the announcements playing on the Red Line.

Attention Red Line passengers, we are experiencing moderate delays on the Ashmont branch due to someone kicking a window on a train forcing it to be stopped and then taken out of service. Service is being held at this time for an investigation. Expect delays on the Braintree branch due to this incident but the incident is on the Ashmont branch. Apologize for the everyday Red Line delays.
