Local Christian leaders condemn Jersusalem synagogue murders

Cardinal Seán O’Malley, Metropolitan Methodios, the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston, and the Reverend Laura E. Everett, executive director of the Massachusetts Council of Churches, last night issued a statement on the murder of five people at a Jerusalem synagogue, which included a rabbi from the Boston area:

The senseless killing of people in any place must always be denounced, but that these brutal attacks in the synagogue in Jerusalem should have occurred against innocent, unarmed worshippers deserves only the strongest possible condemnation. Our prayers go out to those who were wounded and are fighting for their lives and to all those devastated by this attack, especially the families of those who were murdered today. In a particular way, we are conscious of the death of one of our neighbors from Boston, a member of a distinguished Jewish family, Rabbi Moshe Twersky.

Ohhhhh, right....I forgot. Who gives a damn about brown people? Especially ones who have been brutally oppressed for decades, inside defacto concentration camps that shrink every year as land is taken away for "settlers." Severely limited access to water (diverted for Israeli interests), construction material ('cause concrete can be used by terrorists), food ('cause terrorists eat), medicine (ditto), and virtually no trade in or out of their country allowed. Except for goods manufactured for Israeli companies. Can't have medicine, but we'll happily let you export Sodastream machines.

How DARE they get angry or react violently to that. Why can't they be good little brown people and just suck it up? Why can't they know their place?

who are as 'white' as me. Some even have (gasp!) blue eyes! Same with Arabs and North Africans in general. A friend of mine who is Jewish could have been a Nazi poster boy, he looks so 'Aryan'.

I take it you keep up with the statements of the Pope and head of the Orthodox Church in Palestine , but I give you some links in case you don't.

Look, I think the Palestinians get screwed daily, but there are lines that should not be crossed. These were men at prayer, in a synagogue. I can't speak to what these men thought about issues in the region, but they were in a holy place. The Quran frowns on such an attack, as does the rest of the world.

But in short, yeah, they did that.

You are ignorant if you think only white people practice the Jewish faith.

Gazans had plenty of access to construction material. They used it to build an extensive tunnel system. They also seem to have had no trouble importing plenty of rockets. If they were less interested in killing Jews and more interested in building their own economy, they'd likely have their own country now.

Okay, so I am an outsider. I write from Roslindale, whose Middle Eastern divide has been between Matronites and Melkites, but here's what I see. Hamas controls Gaza and Fatah "controls" the West Bank. Hamas is a lot more radical (all that "death to Israel" stuff) while Fatah actually negotiates with the Zionists. How does Israel treat each. In Gaza, Israel evicted settlers and essentially gave Hamas control over everything but their borders. In the West Bank, the IDF still controls things, and when the US tries to get peace talks going, more land is given over to Zionist settlers after being taken from farmers and people who have been on the land first. In the end, doesn't Israel respect the bullet more than dialogue?

Killing people in a place of worship is a low, but to be fair, all people should be able to get on a bus, go out for pizza, or even just sit in their homes without the constant threat of death. In Israel/Palestine, it doesn't seem like it's possible, or even that the powers that be want there to be peace. Pity.
