Man falls off boat in outer harbor; State Police fish him out

Around 9 p.m. from the Provincetown II between Long Island and Deer Island. State Police troopers found the 39-year-old, pulled him up and got him to a Boston Police dock Deer Island for transportation to a local hospital to be checked out.

A friend of mine was aboard and was standing near this passenger when he overheard him tell people nearby that he was going to take his life just before hopping over the railing.

The tweet says he fell from the Provincetown III, which is a high-speed catamaran passenger boat with service between Boston and Provincetown. Your article says Provincetown II, which is an older and larger boat used for booze cruises around Boston Harbor.

If it was the Provincetown III, and it was a suicide attempt, I would have expected him to wait until he was farther from land.

To "fall" off a boat. Fishing in the Bering Sea is dangerous, but very few fall off the boat. You may get knocked or swept into the water, but not fall into it. Unless you are doing handstands on the railing, then that's a possibility.

So sad if it was a suicide attempt. Ptown II goes pretty slow, if you were going to get hurt jumping down, it would be bc you hit the side of the boat, Which is what happened to the gentleman last year, that jumped from the Ptown. (Wonder if they fined him)
