No kayaking in Dorchester Bay?

Boston Police report rescuing two guys who both managed to fall out of their kayaks in Dorchester Bay yesterday afternoon.

Harbor Unit Officers were directed by officers on land to two victims clinging to a mooring ball approximately 150 yards off M Street Beach. Officers were able to pull them into the boat. The two male victims, ages 52 and 49, were taken to Berth 10 and met by EMS to be transported to Massachusetts Hospital and treated for hypothermia.

The wind is brutal this time of year. It was a nice day yesterday, but that area gets pretty rough for kayaking.

Kayaks are hot for bay fishing right now, but not right now. Come back in May.

It can be fun if you check conditions, dress to go swimming in the current water temp, and bring a buddy.

I'm guessing they did only one of those.

The upside is that there is less recreational boat traffic and the ocean stays liquid longer than inland waters.
