Peak burger: Local burger chain says it's now a kale and quinoa chain

The Boston Business Journal reports on changes at b.good:

The burgers and shakes are still available, but they've been surpassed in popularity by kale-and-quinoa bowls and smoothies.

Or maybe it's just them. Boston Magazine reports Tasty Burger is planning "multiple" new locations.

Because the sandwich I had at their JP location the one time I went was total slop and I am not all that hard to please.

EDIT: I was thinking of Real Deal (which stinks) I have never been to B Good, and will plan on trying it. Sorry B Good.

Place is alright, you get a free burg on your birthday if you sign up on their mailing list.

Didn't know they did a kale dish, kale is my jam.

Where is b.good in Jamaica Plain?

I wasn't aware of a b.good in JP, and I didn't notice one skimming their locations page.

OP is probably thinking of Real Deal.

As for Tasty Burger? Well, I've never waited so long for a burger and fries in my life. 15 minutes, I think?

About a month ago, I went to the b.good location over on Mass Ave. I waited about 30 minutes for my burger and fries (because there were only two people there - the other locations are always fully staffed and I never had a bad burger)...the fries were fine, but the burger was RAW. After an email to their company, they refunded my money.

When they first started, they were always good - everything was fresh and tasty the minute you got it. If b.good wants to expand its selection to those who don't like burgers and fries, fine, but don't degrade the products they're known for at its expense.

I used to be very enthusiastic about b.Good, but then I had a really bad experience at the Dartmouth St. Location a few years ago, bad enough to prompt an angry e-mail to the owners. They gave me some coupons and such and made some reasonable sounding excuses regarding issues on that particular day. I've never found it to be terrible aside from that one experience, but since then I have generally not been impressed. A focus on kale and quinoa (both of which I like) might explain the burger quality degradation. At any rate, I've long since moved on to Tasty Burger as my go to burger joint.

Boston Burger Co. is planning a shop at 1105 Mass Ave in Cambridge. Can't have too many burger places around Harvard Square. (That's not a complaint.)

In related news... Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage not planning to open any new locations, plans to remain "just about the same as always".

And that's not a bad thing.

I like them - they taste home made to me.

Their salad bowls, on the other hand, are not just amazing, but unusual and very well priced for the quality of food in them. That's the story here.

Burger Fi (www.burgerfi.com) is opening at some point in the former bagel place on Spring Street at the Shaws Market plaza. The signs are up and the web site says "coming soon." Anyone have experience with them?

We grabbed burgers there a few weeks back. They were fine. The fries look good, but I forgot to order them and it was a pre-hockey game rush, so I didn't follow up. It is akin to b.good, both price and quality (complaints above notwithstanding, compared to Wendys, McDonalds, and the King, the quality is better.)

I will say this much- Burger Fi is better than Shake Shack for food. And I have no idea how to pronounce the last syllable.
