Quebec school cancels hockey-jersey day rather than risk trouble if student showed up with Bruins jersey

The CBC reports:

“We don't think it's prudent for a student to wear a Boston Bruins jersey in a school during this very intensive playoff play,” Cohen said.

"At this stage in the game, with the Canadiens leading the series 2-1, why ignite things, why create a controversy," he added.

"Our behavioural expectations of students are so low that we can't expect them to not get in fights over stupid things".

Lovely. Not that US students have had much better self-control guidance in their lives ... but sad.

"We're not overly concerned about our students. However, we don't want the potential liability that the actions of any our students who might get into fights over stupid things may create for US."

And I call this issue reason 1,287,345.5 of how friivilous lawsuits (and the fear of them) are slowing eroding society.

"One of my buddy's sons wore his bruins t-shirt to his 2nd grade class today and during recess some bullies beat him and ripped his shirt. ..when he went to one of the monitors, he was told what did he expect? One of the boys parents of who ripped the shirt, expressed bruins (only ) shirts should be banned from school during the series to make sure this wouldn't happen again. Really!!"

If you were wearing an opponents jersey (not just Red Sox) in the bleachers. They would simply come up and tell paying customers they couldn't sit down because they couldn't guarantee their safety.

For a comedy, most Seinfeld episodes I recall actually had content that's on par with what many of today's cable news organizations broadcast as "documentaries".

But I forgot about Elaine in the owners box! No, this was in the early 1990s when I shared a bleacher season ticket package when I lived in NYC. I actually didn't go to any Red Sox games then, but opposing fans with jerseys were apart always escorted out of the bleachers. Other parts of the stadium were more forgiving!
