Red Line dead between Alewife and Harvard

UPDATE: The T reported at 8:23 a.m. that normal service was resuming, well, normal, but with residual delays, of course.

The T is running buses instead of trains between Alewife and Harvard Square this morning because of a dead maintenance vehicle on the tracks just south of Porter.

Crews are on scene, working to get the maintenance equipment off of the main line.

Ugh. The commute is going to be bad enough today, we don't need MBTA manufactured problems.

At South Station on the Red Line about 9:00am--"Trains are moving with moderate delays due to an earlier shuttle bus."

Unless the shuttle bus got wedged on the tracks, it should be the solution, not the cause of the delays, no?

Service was god awful this morning. 25 mins for an Alewife train this morning because of the backups from the Harvard to Alewife shuttle. Announcements were playing which was a goof thing. Train arrived but was crowded; Old guy yelled at me you can't move in. Well use your brain old guy if you have one and learn to move all the way into the train for other passengers behind to get onto the train. Step all the way into the train away from the doors because they're going to close. As the T says, "If you don't fit on the train and the doors are closing, don't even try to fit in" or in other terms "You're holding up the service for other people on the train and trains following behind".
