Roslindale playground to get upgrade a year early

Mayor Walsh had a bonus for Roslindale parents with small kids at today's Adams Park re-dedication: Work on renovating Fallon Field will begin next year, rather than in 2016 as originally planned.

His announcement comes a few months after a new parents group began lobbying for new and improved playgrounds in the neighborhood.

Walsh also mentioned that rozzie was getting it's own rep for the office of neighborhood services... I'm wondering if this might have had something to do with asking them to walk their entire districts and realizing that this was the largest area to cover. Or maybe it was the years of griping about not having any representation in city hall...

Dorchester would take that both in population and area.

Not the largest area in the great south, with both Hyde Park (6.25 sq. mi.) and West Roxbury (5.47 sq. mi.) larger than Roslindale's 3.72 square miles.

However, long underrepresented. I wouldn't want to speak ill of any city councilor, state rep, state senator, or even congressman, but it would be nice to have a single go to person rather than the splits that occur in the other levels.

healy serves a greater population density and they have a crappy little playground (next to a blind curve where there's a lot of dangerous driving)- would be an excellent candidate for spray stacks too...

They're doing some renovation to one of the baseball diamonds, and they recently did the pool, but that playground needs some serious love. and they could use another basketball court.
