Roslindale Square getting a parklet

No, silly, Adams Park isn't a parklet, even if it is small. Wicked Local Roslindale reports a couple of parking spaces on Cohasset Street by Fornax will be turned into a "hangout space" where pedestrians can sit a spell and take a break - especially handy these days in the Square given that Adams Park is all torn up for renovations.

Speaking of torn-up Adams Park, the Roslindale Village Farmers' Market opens June 7, this season in the commuter-rail parking lot (because of the aforementioned Adams Park work).

Where is the subsidized grocery distro going to happen then?

If this leads to BoA ever cleaning up all the garbage in their parking lot and in the mulch by the drive through, then it's a win.

funny how they put that parklet in the one spot where the cheap groceries get handed out?

It seems pretty unlikely that there's anything sneaky going on - especially given how dedicated the Fornax folks are to supporting the community. You can see that there's still plenty of space behind the area marked off for the parklet. My guess is that Fair Foods will simply use the next section of street down from the parklet for the twice-a-month distros, as that building stretches down for quite a distance.

If I know anything about my fellow Roslindalians, my guess is that this was explicitly brought up at the RVMS mtgs - and if it was going to adversely impact a widely-known and broadly supported program like that, people would have made some serious noise.

Don't confuse supporting the community with "fads" that bump up real estate speculation.
You can't throw a rock hard baguette in Roslindale without hitting a realtor these days.

I know, you're going to tell me you're third-generation Roslindale, but people have been working for years to do interesting things in the square that have nothing to do with trying to push house sales - which hardly need much of a push these days, given the flood of people who can no longer afford JP (and how much longer until Hyde Park starts getting people who can no longer afford Roslindale?).

And when it's open, I'm sure I'll take the kidlet down for a looklet at the parklet.

I honestly thought the parklet would go behind Fornax in the fenced in parking lot. That made a lot more sense to me than where they are actually putting it. People double park there all the time to go to Alex's Liquors or Fornax,

Personally I think it's a dangerous and dumb location for the parklet. Behind the building makes way more sense to me.
