UPDATE: Seems the box was part of an effort to send letters to the troops.
Conor Yunits was more than nonplussed to see this at South Station yesterday, which, he reminds us, was Sept. 10. Sept. 10, people.

Fortunately, since my blood pressure doesn't have such wild swings now, I'm becoming somewhat inured. Being a Christian, I've come to the conclusion that the people responsible for such things will probably get what's coming to them in the afterlife; perhaps placement in a huge vat of boiling plum pudding with their heads positioned in such a way as to see a gigantic billboard continually flashing the following: ONLY ETERNITY UNTIL THE FIRE GOES OUT, YOU BASTARD.

Addendum: If it is for soldiers overseas, not as hideous. Still, though, how long does it take to get a letter to someone?

Saw that on my way through at lunch- they had it out when they were doing Letters to Soldiers. I stopped and wrote a letter. They were doing it with the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund. The letters go in care packages to soldiers overseas. It was nice.

It's really too late
to write Santa Claus. His busy season is approaching and it will take time to process requests and book the appropriate elf labor. He also may need to order parts. There is less arctic ice now which makes shipping easier, but North Atlantic seas can be rough.
