Tell it to the Coast Guard...... Cargo Ship Hits Brooklyn Bridge
A cargo ship hit the Brooklyn Bridge on Friday night when its light tower clipped the iconic span, cops said.
The ship — which is named “Rainbow Quest” — was sailing south on the East River when its light tower collided with the underside of the bridge at about 11 p.m., forcing authorities to halt traffic for about two hours, according to cops.
“I just want to get home, it’s kind of unnecessary,” complained Katie Malbon, 43.
The frustrated mom was stuck in a held-up taxi in Manhattan waiting for the bridge to reopen so she could get home to her kids.
“I’m concerned about my baby sitter!”
Department of Transportation workers were on the bridge late Friday night inspecting the damage as a NYPD Harbor Patrol boat sailed underneath, cops said.
