Wait, there were car chases in the priest scandal?

UPDATE: Or the statie car could have been there to provide protection to the crew filming stuff in front of them. See the comments for more.
Eileen Murphy reports she watched car chases being filmed around Moakley Park and Day Boulevard for "Spotlight" - the movie about the Globe Spotlight Team's work to uncover pedophile priests. Or maybe it was just Bernie Law's escort out of town?

Carson beach was notorious back in the 80s/90s
For illicit activity after dark. Kinda like Southies version of the fens. Maybe one of the priests was trying to do a runner from the cops in the police dept next door to the bath house.
Is it a chase scene?
Or just a police detail tailing the film truck so no one gets behind it? I know they shoot any driving scene with trucks like that.
I agree with Pete Nice
My thinking was the same, Pete. A detail cruiser to closely follow the production truck during filming. That looks like a real MSP cruiser also. Not sure of their exact policies but I know in "The Departed" and some other Boston themed movies the MSP and BPD cars and uniforms shown were replicas with some minor but obvious differences from what is used in real life. I imagine a "chase scene" would have replicas and not the real thing.
Makes sense
And isn't Day Boulevard a State Police road?
Not a Decepticon police car?
If shooting a movie, also having cop cars be fake seems apropos.
Spotlight Movie.
Not sure how long the filming was going on when I got there, but they did about a half dozen takes around Moakley Park. The State Police intermittently closed & opened Day, Old Colony, Columbia Roads and a part of Mt. Vernon St. along with the rotary. There were several "State Police" cars used. Not sure if they were prop cars.
