We have our first announced city-council candidate

Annissa Essaibi-George, who came in fifth in 2013 for one of the four at-large city council seats, is running again for one of the seats in the 2015 elections.
Essaibi-George is a former president of the Columbia-Savin Hill Civic Association and executive director of Fields Corner Main Street.

Most current council members have proven that their only in it for personal gain, time to clean house.
Totally superfluous and unimportant comment
Her knitting store is horrible. Most of her staff is a bit off and they can be a bit condescending towards someone who is trying really, really hard but just can't get the hang of casting on. For crying out loud, we can't all be super crafty. No need to make a person feel bad about it.
What does
that have to do with her running for City Council? Stick the info on the store's Yelp page, for pete's sake.

Annissa and her store
I've always found Annissa to be extremely kind and helpful, and I've also found that the people who work at her shop reflect her attitude. When I was a beginning knitter, every time I made a simple little mistake like dropping a stitch I'd go to Annissa's shop and whoever was working there at the time would show me how to fix my mistake and then, since I'm slow at learning crafts, would go ahead and fix it for me. Now that I'm more experienced I make complicated mistakes, and the folks at the store still fix my mistakes for me when I can't fix them myself. Annissa even took my knitting home with her once to fix a really big mistake.
Many, many people share my opinion of Annissa's shop. It has great ratings on Yelp. In the words of one customer, "This is a wonderful knitting shop. The yarns are beautiful but most importantly, the people who work there are a delight. Regardless of my needs, someone is always there to help and encourage and as a relatively new knitter, this is a relief!" For all the Yelp reviews go to www.yelp.com/biz/stitch-house-dorchester.
Annissa has also been very generous to two charities I work with without myeven asking. She donated hundreds of dollars' worth of knitting and crocheting supplies to the Creative Arts Center at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institution. She's also donated a great deal of yarn to the Italian Home for Children and has also offered free tuition to the shop's classes for kids.
I believe what I've just posted is totally relevant to Annissa Essaibi-George's campaign for City Council. Character matters.

Congratulations on annuoncing your candidacy
You're in his district, right? If not, just worry about your own councilor.
That said, I'm not in Yancey's district so I have no dog in this race. He's had the job for 30 years now, for better or worse. He was elected to the first council Menino was on.
My application would get lost in a heart beat.
I'm pro 2A, pro-choice, think taxes are too high, rents are too hight, don't feel the need for "affordable housing" for a select few, want time limits on welfare (my parents were on it for a time while I was a much younger), despise space savers and my list of unpopular beliefs can go on for miles. I'd last one debate if there even was one.
You get a thumbs up for giving me the idea though!

Yancey is fairly entrenched in his district. That being said, he hasn't had many real challengers since Ego. If someone were to emerge and run an aggressive and sophisticated campaign against him they might have a shot.

This tweet suggests that Jean-Claude Sanon will be running again in District 5.
It'll be tough
He didn't get good numbers in 2013, and now McCarthy has incumbency. Unless Tim messes up royally, he'll cruise.
I will say this much, my money is on the first non-white councilor from this minority-majority district being Haitian, but then again, would I have put money 5 years ago that the guy after Menino would have spent his summers as a youth in Galway?
His numbers weren't so terrible
He lost 9603 to 7881, or 54.65% to 44.85%. That's not super close, but it's not a complete landslide, either. This time around Sanon will have somewhat better name recognition and McCarthy will be the incumbent. I agree that Tim has the advantage, but I don't think he can just mail it in and expect an easy victory, either.

I even looked up the numbers before I hit enter, so not a blowout, but for an open seat, nonpartisan race, a 10 point victory is significant.
Sanon seems like a good guy. The big thing for an incumbent is to not screw up. McCarthy has carried on the Consalvo tradition- he's even got Lee Blasi as his rep for Roslindale.

Commissioner Burke submitted the October 16, 2014 Board Minutes to the Board for its review.
Commissioner Cuddyer requested that minutes be amended for a style correction.
Board of Election Commissioners' Vote:
Commissioner Rooney moved to accept the minutes as amended.
Commissioner Owens seconded.
Motion passed unanimously.
Matter: Certification of November 4, 2014 State Election
Mr. John Donovan submitted the results of the November State Election to the Board for its review and certification
