Charlestown El?
The year is pretty easy - 1950. That's when Governor Dever sought re-election versus former Lt. Governor Coolidge. The LoPresti posters have me thinking it's possibly the Charlestown El, but beyond that...
Suldog

Late 1940s
I'm guessing based on what is in the window at Roxy's, and what the woman is wearing outside.
The LoPresti signs would indicate 1946 or 1947.
Don't know where Roxy's was ... but I would probably buy a dress, and then get myself a Pickwick at K's.
So I swear that I'm not
So I swear that I'm not trying to be snarky, but wouldn't those who have access to the city's archives be a bit better at tracking down information about the city?
The people at the Archives
The people at the Archives know when and where the photo was taken. This is a contest for others to guess....
I was lying about being
I was lying about being snarky.
The city directory from 1957
The city directory from 1957 lists a Roxy Dress Shop at 1045 Washington Street, and a Cooper Electric Supply at 1027 Washington.
Modern day that would put it
Modern day that would put it in Dorchester on Washington Street close to Lower Mills.
Why you, I oughtta
It's the South End.
I was with Suldog. I assumed it was Charlestown.
EDIT- I don't know my own Washington Street. I'm with teric now. So Roxbury/South End.
I was just commenting on
I was just commenting on where that modern day address would be - the numbers probably changed through the years. I personally think it's Dudley Square. That stretch of buildings on the left might be before where the municipal parking lot sits now before the Ferdinand - there are still some buildings there.
Pickwick Ale? EEEWWWWWW!!!
I hope it tasted better back then. And my initial un-educated guess is somewhere along the Washington Street stretch of the Orange Line.
Looks like it could be...
Dudley Sq
Yep
I seem to recall the screeching curve around Dudley.
Perhaps the still-existing
Perhaps the still-existing Cooper's Electric would have a record of where they had location sin 1950?
More awesome el photos

Thanks
Now i have something new to look at while I baby sit bags at this work sponsored conference.. ;)
PS - We miss you eeka!
isn't calling them "bags"...
...just a little insensitive?
Uh
No, seriously, I am in a room full of people's bags. Mostly laptop cases and purses.
New career
Cybah's now a Luggage Lifter!
nah
I do IT for a living. I had to go to this conference to bring some of my Midas touch to the conference since everyone I work with has bad computer karma. I just have to be in the room and most computer problems just magically go away.
So they put me in the room with the bags and I watched them.. and surf'd all day.
Probably the least work I have done at this job since I started months ago.
The Answer!
Thanks for playing folks! This shows Washington Street at Cherry Street on March 28, 1951.
OK
Where is/was Cherry Street?
Cherry St

Cherry St was near the urban renewed NY streets area.
