When you think of sushi, you think of the North End, right?

Well, maybe not yet. NorthEndWaterfront.com reports on a proposal to replace a closed mozzarella bar on Salem Street with a sushi bar. The place would be aimed not at tourists, but at North End residents looking for something other than Italian food, its lawyer said.

Could be a great addition to the neighborhood. Nice to have some options in the area that aren't mediocre red-sauce Italian joints.

... and I do associate excellent seafood with Italian cuisine, so I think it sounds like a nice fit!

Uh, there aren't many Italians living in the North End anymore. They all live in the suburbs now. It's long been almost completely gentrified.

2nd sushi place on Salem
The North End Fish Market has sushi on the other side of the street, but is a small place without seating. I'm happy to see some resturant diversity in the North End, especially compared to the Mozzarella bar. It was way too expensive for what they were offering.

Attention all North End Residents! Please come out on Monday Oct 6th at 7pm (30 North Bennet St., The Nazarro Center) to give your approval to the Neighborhood Council for a sushi restaurant to open in the North End! They are also looking for a 1am license! We need more of these in our neighborhood! The concept for this Sushi restaurant is amazing and the perfect addition for North End residents.
