Why should kids have all the fun with swings?

I had lunch there a few times this week during Inbound/FutureM. It also has giant chess and connect four, cornhole, and bocce.

Walked by on Wed. and this park was closed for a private event. I never heard of any park being closed like that before. I hope it isn't a trend for parks to be closed to some and open for others.

It's not a city park - it's a private property whose owners are running it as a park (similar to the park in Post Office Square?). There's more than just a symbolic difference there.

As for the park being closed, though, well, a couple years ago, a big part of the park in Copley Square was closed for some event. And then it was closed even longer, because the event goers basically managed to trample all the grass to death and it had to be re-sodded.

The swings are transient, evidently. Northeast did stunning composition work for her photos.

Boston Inno has a gushy and breathless summary of it all.

Sounds like a jurisdiction muddle. A kind of public/private entity pipe dream from Therese Murray and crew.

The Boston innovation tailwag is yet another funny example of the area recycling a buzzword that was getting stale when Lew Gerstner noted "The last thing we need now is more innovation' upon being handed IBM for a balance sheet repair job.

which wouldn't be allowed if it were owned by the city of Boston or the state DCR.

South Boston Seaport area needs a Boston Common sized public park.
I saw a map or public space in Boston and Southie has NON! Nada! Zip!
All the development going on an no public space is a crime.
Greedy developers and BRA want every sq inch developed with no open space.

why people are complaining about the park. Yes, it's part of the convention center, and yes, sometimes they close it for private events, but more often than not, it's open to the public. Bring up the space in Google Maps and look at what it was before it was built. There's no way the city was doing anything with that space anytime soon on its own. It's also not in the most "open" and convenient place either, so even if was fully open to the public at all times, half of you would be complaining about the location, and the other half about the disrepair it would inevitably fall into without some private backing.

..it should be expanded to replace the stupid convention center.

There is also a very impressive sculpture garden near Commonwealth Pier called Eastport for those with a more contemplative bent.

Thanks for the pointer --I had never heard of that park but it looks cool from the photos. I'll be checking it out!

in a very well done little space. I had just finished doing a video walk around the fish pier and spotted a mobile across the street.

There are a creature bronzes that are redolent with whimsy to clue a child into a sense of the place, other pieces for older people and very good landscape architecture.
