All that snow didn't have a lot of moisture and now we're officially in a drought

The latest drought standings are just out this morning, and all of Massachusetts - and much of New England and a good part of New York are now in a moderate drought. The US Drought Monitor adds:
From March 1 - May 19, precipitation totaled less than two-third of normal in locations such as Boston (5.64 inches, or 56% of normal), New York’s Central Park (7.12 inches, or 63%), and Providence (7.39 inches, or 65%).
Those of us in MWRA towns shouldn't be too concerned yet, however, except for the issue of brush fires. The MWRA reports the Quabbin was at 96.8% of capacity as of May 1 - up from 94.9% on April 1, and 93.% on Jan. 1.

I hate it when it hasn't rained in weeks and the weather guys say things like "Should be a beautiful holiday weekend, although we may have to deal with a few scattered showers on Memorial Day..."
Sad trombone.
We need some rain, people! Not every day, but goodness knows the grass and plants could use a little taste.
that does it!
I am moving to Seattle..oh, wait!...
You do not live in California
Yes, we have not had rain for a while, but as the article states the reservoirs are at max capacity after the winter we had. Please resist the urge to pretend that you are engaged in an environmental problem on the other side of the country.
I've been swimming at Walden
I've been swimming at Walden pond a few times this spring and the water level is low- a lot lower than it was last summer. I thought all the ponds and reservoirs would be full after the winter we had, but that does not seem to be the case.
All a vast conspiracy by the
All a vast conspiracy by the evil Water Barons.
At least it wiped out the tick population.
Those miserable things are very vulnerable to moisture loss. The heatwaves we had earlier really decimated the ones that made it through the unusually deep frost penetration, lingering snow pack and late arrival of the season.
It has also kept the mosquitoes down. I was in a wetland yesterday and didn't see any. Usually there would be swarms.
