Anchorage wants its snow back
By adamg on Mon, 02/16/2015 - 9:34am
The National Weather Service offices in Anchorage and Taunton exchange a little snow banter:
Lost: seasonal snowfall. If found, please return. We're looking at you @NWSBoston. Snow since July 1: 20.3". Avg 55.1". Down 34.8" #AKwx

@NWSAnchorage No problem, we'll give you your 34.8" and still have 60.9" leftover for ourselves, which is still 31.9" above normal!

95.7 inches
The record is 107 or so?
Wow. We are gunning for the all time seasonal snow total spot.
1993-4 being the #2 year by a smidge (96 inches).
There is a trajectory comparison with '95-6 in this globe article.
We should hit the #2 spot
We should hit the #2 spot tomorrow evening
A lot of ski areas out west wouldn't mind it, either
I'm sure ski areas out west are a bit jealous, too. It has been a tough year for them.
Looking at the Alta snow history, they haven't had appreciable snow for over a month now, and their season total is less than 200". They should have well over 300" by now.
