Not just this video, but this city as well.

I have friends who keep complaining about the place being too expensive, too cold, too unfriendly, too Democrat, too corrupt. They want to move to Texas, or Florida or North Carolina.

To them I say fuck it. You get what you pay for, no matter where you go. There is a reason those places are cheap.

I love time-lapse videos, and I'm a sucker for architecture...

Really this video is masterful, but I find something lack within is it's human element.

It reminds me of the over-idealized, stunning and even sorta poignant Thomas Kincade version of our city.

A bit too clean. Where's the fog, the hassle, the human drama and element? Some of those shots were obvious orchestrated from Chelsea for example, leaving aside the fact no tourist will see that view from there...

The shots of the Tobin...at least.

I like Sigur Ros. It might be the music, too. Something about the yachts around the Charles and not enough human faces or shots from the T make me suspect this is why something rings hollow here.

Of course, everyone's got an opinion, and I've been accused of psychopathic hipsterist trolling here before, but I'd like to point this out because few have commented, but the video is def remarkable.

It's a stunning postcard of a beautiful city, one that many of us love.

The fog, the hassle, the human element are at ground level, on the streets and in the neighborhoods. This isn't that, and that's ok.

Nothing against Sigur Ros, but I find musical soundtracks distracting, generally mute them as I did this time.
