Bail set at $15,000 for man charged with stabbing two at South Station - one in the face, one in the eye

John Glynn, 21, of North Attleboro was arraigned today on charges he stabbed a man in the face on a commuter-rail platform at South Station last night and then stabbed the man's friend in the eye, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Glynn and the first man got into a fight around 6:45 p.m.; the friend came to the initial victim's aid.

A Commuter Rail conductor witnessed a portion of the incident and described the assailant as "a scrawny kid in green with a wiffle" - a description that matched Glynn, who was detained at the scene by Amtrak Police. Based on witness statements taken by MBTA Transit Police, he was placed under arrest.

Boston Municipal Court Judge Thomas Horgan declined a request from prosecutors to revoke Glynn's bail on an earlier charge of assault with a knife out of Bristol County.

Innocent, etc.

Past few months? More like as long as I can remember. Meth and the heroin epidemic has only made it worse.

Only 15k for stabbing 2 people (one in the eye) on a platform at South Station, and was currently out on bail for again assaulting someone with a knife? Is this some kind of joke?

This punk is a PUNK, stabbed one in the eye and the other in the temple leaving him in a coma, was improving then suffered a stroke Saturday just prior to being moved to a Rehab. facility. This punk ass idiot needs to sit in the I.C.U. and watch this college student go through his complete recovery, learning how to talk, walk, eat all over again. Every time he shows signs of pain and is medicated this idiot should be poked with a HUGE needed to see how that pain feels. Then send him off to jail with the big boys instead of sending him home to momma with a bracelet on!! Come on punk (heard he was a little scrawny sh..) If you can't get the job done with your fists use a blade then, sure sounds like it makes sense to me how about you? I will pray for you when I read what happens to you when you meet the big boys and they make a real man out of you. Until then I hope my friend has a full speedy recovery and gets back to school to finish up the school year. The Go Fund Me proves what a good kid Anthony is and how well liked he is in our home town. We ALL pray for you.Anthony.

I was getting a sandwich in Allston around that time and couldn't figure out why the guy eating in the shop was soooo drunk - then his girlfriend came out of the bathroom with a hairband with a shamrock coming out of it. You can't really enjoy a parade if you can still walk or communicate after all - drink up! My guy was just loud and happy to be eating a sandwich though.

I assume this means he doesn't lose the eye. It would be sad to have that lifetime souvenir from a run-in with a loser on a train platform.

And one year after that...

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Police say a local teen celebrated his 18th birthday last month by going on a vandalism spree, spray-painting graffiti on various downtown businesses and street signs. The suspect, Michael A. Dorsey-Reed, 18, of 22 Prospect St. faces arraignment in Attleboro District Court Monday to 10 counts of defacing property, police said.
A friend of Dorsey-Reed's, John E. Glynn, 19, of 67 Leonard St., North Attleboro, was charged with spray-painting graffiti on only one building. They were arrested Friday after an investigation by Detective Daniel Arrighi, who was assisted by officers John Grim, Scott Weiner, David Cullen, Christiaan Grunewald and Sgt. Shane McKenna.

Dorsey-Reed was identified as a suspect through surveillance video taken at one of the businesses victimized in the incident, Ashworth Associates on Richards Avenue, police said.
He allegedly admitted to the vandalism when questioned by Arrighi. Dorsey-Reed told police he painted symbols of a rock band from Boston. Police say they also obtained information about Glynn's alleged involvement in spray-painting White's Music on Route 1 and arrested him after a subsequent investigation.Police say some of the crimes occurred on Aug. 13, but most occurred on Aug. 28, Dorsey-Reed's 18th birthday.

This is crazy! These judges need to be harsher on these crimes in Massachusetts.

Is not to punish somebody, you know, innocent until proven guilty and all that, but to make sure they show up in court until a verdict is rendered. That's why people accused of murder, at least in Massachusetts, never get bail - there's a presumption they have nothing left to lose and will just flee.

I wasn't at this guy's arraignment, but I'm going to assume the judge decided that $15,000 was high enough to make this guy think twice before running out on it. As to why he didn't revoke his bail on the earlier case, that's another issue.

How do you not revoke someones bail when they commit the same violent crime again?
