Its neon. It's been there for decades. I'm sure it will be repaired shortly.
Maybe they are going to
Maybe they are going to convert it to LED bulbs when they remodel the place , thus letting the existing neon just burn out.
Happens a lot, actually
During the winter I've seen it say a number of odd things. When the weather clears, they fix it, and then another section fails. I've seen it say things like Bos Wharf Trial State as well.
Last night, Fort Point was going to the dogs.

Over in Central Square, there used to be the Cambridge Storage Company (is it now a part of the Novartis Complex?). My housemate Loved how, on a different angle, one could see it as "Cambridge Rage Company."

Company is still there and recently had the brick repointed and the signs repainted. So you can still see the rage signs.

...of something similar way back in the 60's. The Hotel Essex across from South Station had seen better days. So had its sign, which often had several letters unlit. The sign flashed too. For a time four letters were out & the sign flashed HOT SEX.
