Bird, Ortiz not enough to win the Olympics: Boston 2024 hires two sports consulting firms, too

GamesBids.com reports the local Olympics group has hired British and American consulting firms that have experience working with cities bidding for Olympics games around the world - although not the 2024 ones, natch - in addition to putting Larry Bird and David Ortiz on their board of directors.

One of the firms, Teneo Sports, has a Web site that is fully buzzword compliant:

Teneo Sports delivers a full suite of advisory services to the world’s leading corporations, properties, events, personalities and governments to help address their sport-related business issues and opportunities. We leverage the full spectrum and resources of the Teneo platform. Whether an organization has a financial, political, reputational, or growth challenge or opportunity in the business of sport, we are uniquely positioned to provide solutions.

How's the heroin epidemic coming along?

Because this is a problem that Boston, and Boston alone, faces. Yup, no other city or town in Massachusetts deals with the scourge of heroin.

Of course, Baker has called it his top priority. How's that working out?

Hiring all these people to sell the 2024 Olympics to the citizens of Boston reminds me of the high pressure sales tactics of timeshare marketers. When something has to be "sold" it generally isn't a good deal.

in DTX is no longer in business. If they were heavily promoting the 2024 Olympics in their store windows, everyone would know the Games would immediately be a flop (just like every movie and album they over-promoted in their store windows turned out to be).
