Boston Fire recently took away many mopeds on some excuse of being too close to buildings and being a fire hazard, and yet, here is an actual fire caused by car parked too close, not a moped or motorcycle. So much for the legitimacy of hauling off of the mopeds based on fire danger.

No one claimed it was legitimate. It was just a great way to get dirt bikes off the streets without harming anyone in a police pursuit.

If the owner thought it wasn't legitimate, they were free to get a claim ticket from the cops and get their bike. After being compared against surveillance from I-93 and any other public way available where illegal dirt bike activity was observed.
