Career criminal charged with gunfire near double-murder scene in Egleston Square

Boston Police report arresting Jason Bly, 35, for an outburst of gunfire at Ernst and Bragdon streets Saturday morning.

Police say an officer specifically stationed there because of the triple shooting that left two dead on Aug. 12 saw Bly fire two shots as he drove by.

It was not immediately clear who or what the suspect was shooting at and there have been no victims or intended targets identified at this time. When the suspect saw the officer, he fled the scene, leading to a motor vehicle pursuit which lasted several minutes, finally coming to an end at Elm Hill near Seaver Street. Officers were able to place the suspect in custody without incident and then safely recover a loaded firearm which the suspect had discarded during the chase.

Bly is scheduled for arraignment in Roxbury Municipal Court on Monday on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. He is also charged with being an armed career criminal, which could magnify any of the sentences he gets for the other charges - and he faces several motor-vehicle violations.

Innocent, etc.
