The Confucius Institute of UMass Boston rang in the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Goat this afternoon with a series of musical, dancing and opera performances in the campus center ballroom.

Some opera, sung to the accompaniment of an erhu player:

Yep, the sideburns and the eyebrows more than the ears, but I did keep looking at that photo and wondering why Mr. Spock was performing in a Chinese opera scene.
