Citizen complaint of the day: No need to attract alien spacecraft to Brighton

Bright lights at Brighton school

An agonized citizen files a 311 complaint about the ludicrous spotlights at St. Joseph Preparatory High School on Cambridge Street:

St Josephs has spot lights that are so bright that shades and blackout curtains don't block them out. Please force them to put blinders on them that point the light down at their driveways and parking lot's instead of peoples windows.

Seems like a legit complaint. Hope complainer has contacted the school herself, and is working with her neighborhood association and/ or city councilor to address the matter. Not just waiting on the city.

It's a high school. It's going to be occupied almost exclusively during daylight hours. Sure, an athletic field might need lights, but that's not what we see in this photo.

They might have evening productions.

Or Parent/Teacher meetings, or PTO or PTA?

Nonetheless, lighting that is not meant for an athletic field should have cut offs for just this reason. I wonder if someone picked lights out without thought (or consultation) to replace existing but dead or energy inefficient (grants are provided for just this purpose) fixtures.
