Citizen complaint of the day: Trolley-stop hole

Woman pointing at giant hole at Brighton trolley stop

The pointing problem finder of Brighton points out another problem, at the Green Line stop at Comm. Ave. and Washington Street:

Horrible little pothole on the MBTA just perfect for taking out a little old lady.

Earlier pointed complaints:
Giant red ball.
Fallen sign.

But she has a point!

By co-starring in the complaint, people actually pay attention to it.

The hero Brighton needs in these dark times.

...but is this really the first time someone noticed that giant crater? Did it just appear recently? Or has it been there for months, probably reported by plenty of people, noticed by plenty of MBTA employees, and ignored until now - because someone took a cute picture?

MBTA, I know you have problems, but please. They compound themselves when you blatantly disregard your customers. I'd love to hear their excuse for not fixing this immediately - because, again, there's NO WAY this thing is anything less than five months old.

A utility box that was removed or a piece of equipment?

That pothole has been there for ages now. It used to be filled with some sort of concretelike stuff, which has disintegrated over the last several months.

100 feet of sidewalk in front of Back Bay Station (Dartmouth St side) looks pretty similar.

And it's not due to the harsh winter. It's been deteriorating for years.

It is an MBTA matter, not a City of Boston matter... The T should have a similar app though. There was one called "Talk to the T" which I downloaded and attempted to use, but that was more akin to talking to the hand -it did not work at all. Per the iTunes store, it is no longer available.

it seems that the only way to get the T's attention is to yell at them on Twitter - which should only be one of several ways to address complaints, not the be-all & end-all.

I think the Mayor's complaint line is supposed to forward complaints like these to the appropriate agency. (Of course, at that point, the case will be marked closed and the MBTA will probably do nothing.)

Bicycles do virtually no damage to roads so shouldn't have to pay anything to use them.

Oh, wait. that's on a platform where cars can't go. Sorry, never mind.

If there's one thing that UHub has taught me, it's that people will drive anywhere their vehicle vaguely seems like it might fit, Green Line platforms and tracks definitely not excluded.

Fallacy somewhere, I fancy.

Everyone has to pose in their stupid citizen complaint pictures? We get it. You're awesome and everyone should want to stare at you.

... show the extent of the problem....

That'd be the excuse, but the reality is this is the ME ME ME ME ME generation. Can't take pictures of landmarks anymore, everything literally has to be a selfie. Hell, you can buy selfie sticks at 7-11 now to more easily engage in narcissism.

... like you are about 80 years old -- which would be good if you were 100 years old -- which I don't think you are. ;-)

... who belongs to an organization of old men who raise money to campaign to control the intimate lives and personal decisions of women that they don't even know ... and families who do not share their religious views.

I'm absolutely astonished you've harped out the fact that I happen to be in the KoC twice in a week, despite me mentioning it casually something like a year ago, and assume I agree with absolutely everything they say and somehow this relates to thinking that selfie culture is stupid. Too bad I read news chronologically otherwise I could have just said the same thing about the pothole guy.

Because she says so. Worship her you ingrate!

Shout outs to the sourpusses who don't like kids having a little fun with their citizen complaints. (It's not a selfie, by the way; it's a portrait of my wife.)
