Here's the (slightly edited) note we receive from BU Productions...

Working with an external company that has the proper credentials and required FAA exemption, we will be shooting scenic shots of the Charles River Campus with an unmanned aircraft system (UAS), also known as a drone.

We expect to shoot between 9:30 AM and 6:00 PM, making our way from east campus to west. We’ll be flying on Commonwealth Ave., Bay State Road and along the Charles River, focusing on BU-owned buildings and everyday life along our city campus.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been planning and coordinating for this effort with colleagues from the Office of General Counsel, Office of Risk Management, Office of Government and Community Affairs and BU Police. Together, we’ve pursued and received permission to shoot with the drone through the City of Boston’s Office of Arts, Tourism and Special Events, the Boston Police Department, and of course, the FAA.

We will have a BU Police detail with us throughout the day on Friday.

I wanted to make you aware of our efforts in case you see the drone flying around campus and wonder what’s going on.

We do not plan to hone in on student residence halls, other than flying around the Student Village area, likely in the late afternoon.

I do not see any Athletics games listed on the Go Terriers events calendar for Friday afternoon. If there is any intramural or other activity slated for Nickerson Field or New Balance Field that I should be aware of, please let me know.

In some cases, pedestrians may not even notice what we’re doing (because of our height), while in others we will be obvious.

Rest assured that Public Safety is our top priority.

Mad sleek production values on a nauseatingly cheery piece of propaganda which completely white-washes the fact that nobody can any longer afford their "lifestyle" of education.

Sorry, I am bitter.

I went to Boston University, and it was recommended to me heavily by my guidance counselor because it was a school that was generous with scholarships and grants. So many of the kids I knew at BU had large aid packages of grants and scholarships that we used to refer to the kids "paying full tuition" in hushed whispers, because to a certain extent, it was viewed as something shameful.
