Court: Gang member who shot up King Arthur's Lounge gets to spend the rest of his life in prison

The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that Jesse Camacho of East Boston got a fair trial on charges he murdered a rival gang member and shot up the now closed Chelsea bucket o' blood and strip club, so there's no reason to do anything about the life-without-parole sentence he got when he was found guilty.

Camacho, a member of the Tiny Rascals gang and 19 at the time, began firing after a member of the rival bloods threw a bottle at a member of his crew one night in January, 2008.

While the victim, Vozzella, and Joseph Upton (a bouncer) were attempting to flee from the gunfire, shots struck them. The victim subsequently fell to the ground. As the defendant chased the fleeing group out of the club, he approached the victim, who remained lying on the floor, and shot him two more times from less than two feet away. The defendant then left the bar, attempting to shoot others as they ran.

Camacho fled to Mexico City, where he was arrested several months later and returned to Massachusetts for trial.
