First snowfall of the season
By adamg on Sun, 10/18/2015 - 3:46pm
Around 2:25 p.m., snowflakes fell on Centre Street at Lagrange in West Roxbury. Granted, they promptly melted on contact, but still, might be time to dust off the old French Toast Alert System.

UNTRUE
The snowfall is a Myth. A Myth. A Myth!
Remember the Muppet movie when a lady pops out and says
"YETH??
no? me neither.
Yup!
Saw a few flakes in Copley Square about an hour later. Was hoping I was hallucinating.
There are often flakes in Copley Square
And a few nuts, too
So, if you like cereal...
(There's a third part of that joke, but I'm not going there.)
I Keep Imagining That We'll Receive No Snow At All This Year ...
... Yes, I enjoy living my life in a dream world.
In our corner of Roslindale...
... we had a few minutes of snow (which didn't stick) around 5:30 pm.
There's zero correlation, but
Two of the quietest winters I can recall, 1979-80 and 2001-02 (the night of the Tuck Rule Game notwithstanding) had very early first snowfalls (right around Columbus Day).
What about 2011-2012?
Maybe I'm just blocking out trauma, but I don't remember that winter...but it began, at least for us in WMa, with a 27" snowstorm in October. Anyone remember how that winter turned out? I know it wasn't as bad as the last two.
