A girl and her bun, reunited for the holidays

Earlier this month, we posted a photo of a stuffed bunny that had been left behind at Mistral in the South End.

Mistral reports today that, thanks to social-media postings, rabbit and owner are back together again - a friend of the family saw one of the photos and let the family know where to find the fuzzy critter.

I'd actually been wondering about the outcome, nice to have a happy ending.

Look at this girl in front of her already decorated Christmas tree.

Quite frankly, it's an outrage.

it's a live tree too. Too bad it will be dried out and shedding needles in three weeks.

Bunk off, the lot of you. It's a wonderful holiday with a sense of magic and lets one be close with family. It gives the kids something to look forward to and stimulates their imaginations. And with the towns collecting trees earlier and earlier each year, no sense to put one up a week before Xmas to take our down a week after. Might as well enjoy it.

The same kind of folks who complain of being burnt out on Xmas. They will never make to the Twelfth Night.

I grew up where everyone bought the tree the weekend before Xmas, finshed decorating it on the 'Eve, and took it down on Jan. 7th. So seeing the front lot at Russo's full of cut trees yesterday was really, really horrifying.

I don't have any idea where to get a tree on December 20th that isn't already a fire hazard.

we would get our Christmas tree the second weekend in December. We'd bring it home, put the trunk in a metal pail of water, and put the tree in pail out on an enclosed (but uninsulated) porch. The porch was cold enough that the water in the pail would freeze, helping to preserve the tree.

We didn't bring the tree into the house and decorate it until two days before Christmas Eve. With prudent watering, the tree would usually last us until the twelfth day with minimal shedding.
