How bad is it?
By adamg on Mon, 02/09/2015 - 3:33pm
It's so bad even some plows are getting stuck. Louise Miller says the plow she saw stuck at Boylston and Berkeley was the second one she saw today.

Day of Clearing Out?
Would it be possible to shut down the city a section at a time just to clear everything out? Or, at least, improve the situation?
it's not much better elsewhere
Some dumbass earlier helped some folks on my street plow out.. and then just plowed it into the street and pushed it down. Now all the cars are getting stuck trying to go over this huge mound of snow. Its like, what did you think you'd accomplish? I almost called 911. (but didn't because my town's twitter scanner page (@chelseascanner) is already full of 911 calls about people throwing snow into the street)
On a smaller scale.. I'm officially out of place to put snow. The snow pile is too high in my front yard to shovel any more on top. I tried to pack it down and move it around (so it was closer to the house)..
That... was a really bad idea... I got stuck for 20 minutes up to my chest in snow. Good thing I had thrown a snow shovel over the porch railing and shoveled myself out. It would have been a bad space to get stuck, between the porch and the side of the house behind the snow bank. Sad to say my pine shrubs will have seen better days.
Edit: Finished incomplete sentence in first paragraph (sorry, also working from home today!)
Hope you won't be offended
if I confess to giggling a little at the mental picture you just painted. I think we've all been there!
oh it's okay
I thought it was funny too for the first few minutes. The issue was, the more i moved, the more I sank. It was like quick sand.
Spent two hours to n Bunker
Spent two hours to n Bunker Hill shelvelling my walkway and our elderly neighbors only to have a city contractor GTA plow us back in. I quit, I give up. I don't care no more.
Oddly enough
My Beacon Hill street is pretty clear. Not down to bear pavement, but closer to drivable than it was at this time in the last two storms. And you really can't ski down it without ruining the bottom of your skis.
Ditto
"plow" was getting stuck as well here. next pass they had a front loader doing the plowing.
