How Westie kids give directions

Boston Directions

OK, this is titled "Boston Directions," but anybody from West Roxbury (or Roslindale) will not only instantly know exactly which Dunkin' Donuts he's talking about, but know that the Dunkin' Donuts that nobody knows about is where the Krispy Kreme used to be.

It's a "Westie Kid." All of the high school kids at West Roxbury High School call it "Westie," and the term has become part of the local vernacular.

By the way I was actually able to follow the directions. Now that is sad!

LOL greatly on this one.

They forgot all mileage is calculated in time, not miles by the way.

How far is it from here? About an hour or so!

Yes, the directions are right, as long as you start on Baker Street, but it looks like the video was shot in Brookline. That's like 5 or 6 Dunkin Donuts away.

..yeeeah, and no one calls Roslindale Rozzie, or South Boston Southie. What hell are they teaching on that side of the harbor?? Or is the Eastie in your name not referring to East Boston?

They had a sketch with "What's the Best Way -- the game show by New Englanders, for New Englanders about New England"

"Cut through the Jah-dan Mahhsh pah-kin lawt..."

One of the most memorable SNL sketches, IMO.

Legacy Place is a now Boston landmark. Ugghhh! It's just a glorified strip mall.

I could actually add 2 more Dunkin Donuts to his directions. If you go too far and head over the highway (i.e. 128), you actually have to pass two more: one on the right, Rte 1 Southbound just after the Shell Station, and a second one after you make the U-Turn to head Rte 1 Northbound, right by Lamberts.

As the parent of a Parkway kid, I can say that, for better or worse, when local kids want to go shopping these days, odds are good they'll either drive themselves and their friends there, if old enough, or convince one of the parents to drive them there.

I think the dude actually mentions those other Dunkin' Donuts, in his directions on what to do if you go too far and go over the highway.

What's not to like? He was helpful, polite and those directions - although very Dunkin-centric, were correct. I agree with other posters that this looks like it was filmed in Brookline - around St. Paul St,. Doesn't look like anyplace in Westie (or Rozzie, for that matter)

BTW- was he cleaning dog poop or something from his sneakers at the beginning and the end? Why was he hopping on one foot?

Dog poop, stones, or just mud. You gotta make sure the tread in yah shoes isn't full of stuff before you go in your ma's house, kid.

Back in the pre-GPS pre-smartphone days, I was trying to get to a show at the Middle East and got hopelessly lost. I was living in Worcester at the time and didn't know my way in town. The guy I stopped to ask directions literally gave a route with three Dunkin Donuts as waypoints. I only saw two of them, missed the third and narturally got totally lost again.
